The International Caricature Festival in Africa (FICA) has officially announced the 9th edition of the International Cartoon & Caricature Competition, Morocco 2026.
Themes:
Cartoon Section: "A World Without War"
Peaceful coexistence is a moral choice.. "Peaceful living together" or "Fraternity without borders" .. Peaceful coexistence Harmonious coexistence Understanding between peoples Peace through coexistence Collective harmony.
The 9th International Festival of Caricature in Africa invites artists from all over the world to draw hope. Through satire and humor, express your vision of a world where peace replaces weapons, where dialogue replaces violence, and where coexistence becomes our only homeland.
Regulations
• Any person who participates in the competition agrees to the conditions of the rules and the Decisions of the jury.
• Each participant may submit up to two (2) cartoons.
• Submitted works must not have been previously published, exhibited, or awarded in Morocco or abroad.
• Format: A4, 300 dpi, JPG/JPEG, free technique.
• The submission email must include the participant's full name, first name, country, full postal address, and WhatsApp number.
• Work that does not comply with the conditions set In these regulations will not be taken into consideration for the competition.
• Selection and Jury Any participation implies full acceptance of these rules and the decisions of the jury, without appeal. Works that do not comply with the above conditions will be automatically disqualified. The jury is sovereign and composed of internationally renowned cartoonists and artists.
• Rights The award-winning and selected works will be part of the official exhibition of FICA 2026 in agadir/ Morocco.
• The artists authorize the Festival to publish them for non-commercial promotional purposes.

• Because of their participation in the competition, artists lend their works to the exhibition organizers. The submitted works shall remain at the disposal of the organizers.
• Jury members will be considered participants in the exhibition and will represent their respective countries. Their names will be automatically added to the list of participants. They will participate only in the exhibition, not in the competition (honorary participation only).
• The submitted works may be used for promotional purposes (printing, websites, newspapers, posters,
invitation cards, etc.) without the artist's permission and without any payment.

Abdellah DERKAOUI
Abdellah Derkaoui was born in 1970 in Machraa Bel Ksiri, northern Morocco. He began his professional career in 1992, publishing his first cartoons in the daily newspaper Maghreb Al Yaoum, followed by Anoual. He currently works for the newspaper Assahra Al Maghribia.
His artistic style combines simplicity, sarcasm, and surrealism. He believes that cartooning is an art in its own right, capable of conveying ideas directly while offering a unique and critical perspective on society.
Throughout his career, Derkaoui has received numerous awards, including the Naji Al Ali Competition Prize in London (2005), the First Prize at I-Expo in Paris (2005), the National Press Club of Canada Award of Excellence (2012), the Best Cartoonist Award at the Young Arab Media Professionals Forum in Amman, and the Moroccan Children's and Youth Book Prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture (2020).
In addition to his work as a cartoonist, he is also a distinguished children's book illustrator. He has published illustrations in Al-Arabi Al-Saghir and illustrated the first Moroccan dictionary for children.
Abdellah Derkaoui serves as Vice-President of the Moroccan Association of Caricature and is a regular participant in the Salon de l'Humour de Saint-Just-le-Martel in France.
