With the sending of the invitation to the selected authors, the 11th edition of the World Humor Awards has officially started
Each author will have to choose whether to participate in the section: “Humorous graphics” or in the section: “Caricature”.
It is not possible to participate in both.
This year the theme of the Cartoon section:
“Kindness and courtesy, reality or appearance.”
The theme of this edition, “Kindness and good manners,” traces the path of environmental sustainability starting from a fundamental first awareness essential for the harmonious development of the planet.
The choice is not random:
Before even talking about green technologies or environmental policies, it is necessary to recover an attitude of respect and care towards what surrounds us. Kindness towards the environment stems from the same ethical foundation as kindness towards people: the recognition of the value of the other, whether it be a human being, an ecosystem, or the planet itself.
Environmental “good manners” – from not wasting resources to respecting common spaces, from consuming responsibly to leaving a place better than we found it – are the practical expression of this fundamental kindness. They are daily gestures that, multiplied by billions of people, can generate real and lasting change.
Humor, in this context, becomes a precious tool for conveying these values without rhetoric: through irony and satire, artists can provoke reflection on unsustainable behaviors, denounce the hypocrisy of certain attitudes and, above all, indicate an alternative path founded on mutual respect and shared responsibility.
In an era marked by polarizations and conflicts, recovering the dimension of kindness – towards people and towards the planet – perhaps represents the true revolution necessary to guarantee a sustainable future for the next generations.
