3rd Caricature Grand Prize "Málaga Grenet" 2024 Arequipa Peru

The city of Arequipa (Peru) has been home to many outstanding caricaturists, many of whom have showcased their talent in nationally recognized publications. In recognition of the importance of this art form, the Peruvian-North American Cultural Center announces the third edition of the international caricature competition Caricature Grand Prize “Málaga Grenet 2025”, dedicated to the most iconic American pop art artist and actor, Andy Warhol.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

The organization of the Gran Premio de Caricatura Málaga Grenet 2025 is under the responsibility of the Peruvian-North American Cultural Center, sponsored by Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde, with the support of the Universidad Católica Santa María and the Roberts Group, and the support of Arte Nostro Peru.

PARTICIPATION:

Any professional or amateur artist from anywhere in the world who is of legal age can participate in this competition.

THEME:

The theme of the competition is a physiognomic caricature of: "Andy WARHOL".

REQUIREMENTS:

1- Participants must register using the following link provided: https://forms.gle/pAUotEKcAKNUva7v6

2- Each participant may submit up to two works, as long as they have not been awarded a prize in another competition previously.

3- The works may be created using any technique and must be in a single A-3 size format.

4- Works generated with Artificial Intelligence will not be accepted.

5- The works must be sent in JPG format with a resolution of 300 dpi in order to be used for dissemination purposes.

6- Submitted works must be accompanied by the Registration Form, which will be available on the website.

IMPORTANT: Files submitted must include the artist’s name and country. Example: Juan Pérez – Argentina.

7- The winner must have a bank account with the IBAN code for the European Union, the ABBA code for transfers to the USA, and the SWIFT code for Latin America, as well as provide the necessary data to complete the transfer.

FINAL DEADLINE:

8- The deadline for submitting works is July 2, 2025, by midnight (Peruvian time).

9- The organizing entity will publish the list of all the received works so that the authors can verify that their works have entered the final judging process.

PRIZE:

10- The winning work will receive a single prize of:

• 1000 US dollars.

• A statuette of the master Julio Málaga Grenet.

• A certificate of recognition.

• A trip to Arequipa, Peru, for the winner, including 3 nights of accommodation and meals in the city to attend the award ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

JUDGING:

11- The jury will consist of six personalities with recognized expertise:

• Javier Rodríguez (director of Culture

and Library at CCPNA).

• Ricardo Córdova (visual artist).

• José Alvarez (visual artist).

• Claudia Cuzzi (visual artist).

• Carlos “Carlín” Tovar (peruvian

caricaturist).

• Omar Zevallos (artist).

12- The jury’s decision is final.

13- The jury’s decision will be communicated to the winner by email and will be published later on the organizing entity’s websites, Facebook, and Instagram.

14- The winner must deliver the original artwork upon arrival in Arequipa or send it by certified mail properly protected to the competition organization (if the artist cannot attend personally to receive the prize).

EXHIBITION:

15- Selected artists for the exhibition will receive a virtual catalog and a certificate of participation.

16- The organization reserves the right to disseminate and reproduce the winning work and other selected works without the explicit authorization of the artist(s) and without any obligation toward the artist.

17- Participation in the competition implies full and unconditional acceptance of these rules.

Any doubts that may arise will be resolved by the Jury.
