International Culturesmakers Cartoon Contest 2025 Belgium
In 2021, we organized an international cartoon contest to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our socio-cultural association. And with great success!
The many entries, the enthusiastic reactions and the unique traveling cartoon expo motivated us to organize a biennial event. One year the focus is on the cartoon contest, the next year on the traveling cartoon expo.
In 2021 the theme was “Culture connects people”, in 2023 the theme was “Color is the wonder of light”.
From April 1st 2025 to July 31st 2025 cartoonists from all over the world can participate in our cartoon contest and this time with the theme: “Every drop of water matters”.
Water is an essential but vulnerable resource that is under pressure worldwide due to climate change, population growth and rising demand. Water scarcity is affecting more and more regions and threatens ecosystems, agriculture and human livelihoods. Only 3 % of all water on earth is freshwater, most of which is not immediately available. The unequal distribution of water is exacerbated by human activities and the climate crisis, leading to droughts, floods and pollution. Our water footprint is large, and conscious water consumption is necessary to combat scarcity. Together we can contribute to a more sustainable water distribution. Alone we are a drop, together we form a river.
Cartoons can be submitted via this website with a maximum of 5 cartoons per participant.
The award ceremony will take place in the spring of 2026, after which the 30 best cartoons will travel around for a year in an expo through Flanders and Brussels.
