Covid-19 Drawings Exhibition 2022 Fiocruz Brazil

The event’s program will include the second edition of an exhibition of drawings. This time, with the COVID-19 theme, in categories such as: charge, cartoon and caricature. To this end, this Regulation launches the call for designers from Brazil and abroad to submit works for the exhibition.


The purpose of this call

Encouraging, disseminating and promoting reflection on the topic of COVID-19, from the point of view of designers from Brazil and abroad

About the participants

Professional or amateur cartoonists (from 18 years of age) can participate, from local, from other states and abroad, of Brazilian or foreign nationality. Each participant can compete with up to two unpublished or already published drawings.

The candidate, when registering, declares that he/she is solely responsible for the veracity of the data and authorship of the submitted works, responding civilly and criminally if it is proven, during or after the contest, the falsity of the data or the authorship of the submitted works. People from the Organizing Committee and Judging Committee are excluded from participation.

Delivered drawings will not be accepted that:

Disrespect Brazilian legislation in general and copyright and intellectual property laws;
Have been produced to commit fraud or encourage the practice of illicit or contrary to moral conduct;
Violate third party rights, including but not limited to copyright and personality rights.
It is forbidden to replace drawings delivered after the act of registration. Participation in this call is free.


About the deadlines

Disclosure of the regulation – 8/23/2022
Registration – until 10/10/22
The list of selected candidates will be available on the Fiocruz Brasília website as of November 1, 2022
The exhibition will take place in November 2022, at Fiocruz Brasília.
After the event, the selected works will illustrate the book in e-book format to be produced in 2023 with the texts of the guests of the event and summaries of the scientific works presented.

About judgment and selection

Works will be selected for the exhibition according to criteria of creativity, originality, relevance to the theme, layout and visual impact in an evaluation that will be up to the Judging Committee, with no possibility of contestation. The judging committee will be formed by three members, being a representative of the Fiocruz Brasília management, a representative of the Fiocruz Brasília Communications Office and a cartoonist, who will select, among the works received, those for exhibition and insertion in the e-book of the event. The Judging Committee will assign to each drawing a score on a scale of 1 to 3, with a minimum grade of 1, assigned to the criterion that least suits the objectives of this call, and a maximum grade of 3, to the one that best suits it. Those selected will be those who reach the highest values ​​in the sum of points. The Organizing Committee will keep in touch with all classifieds via email.

Popular Jury – It will be made up of the followers of Fiocruz Brasília on social media, who will select the best design of the exhibition, during the days of the event, to appear on the cover of the e-book, through online voting.


Destination and use of works

Those selected by the Judging Commission automatically authorize Fiocruz Brasília to use (in any media) the images of the works on display on covid-19, ceding the copyright on the registered designs for an indefinite period. Fiocruz Brasília will be responsible for printing the canvases, which will be displayed on its premises and, giving credit to the respective authors.
After the exhibition ends, the works will remain in the possession of Fiocruz Brasília, which will execute its right of ownership for use according to its interest, without indemnification of any nature to the authors. By participating in this selection, applicants agree to the terms of this regulation. The inscription means, for all purposes, in terms of authorization in the recording, publication, execution of the work, as well as automatically transfers all rights to use the image of the inscribed design to Fiocruz Brasília, for an indefinite period.

All cases not provided for in this regulation will be resolved directly by the Organizing Committee.
