Sebastià Martí Benedí and Hugo Feal PERMUY are the winners of the XXIV Curuxa del Humor de Fene Graphic Humor Contest.

Robert John Holt Schmelzer and Luciano Ripio MOLINA won second prizes, in the Curuxa and Curuxa Nova categories, respectively

After the appropriate deliberations, at the meeting held this afternoon at the Fene Humor Museum, the jury of the XXIV Curuxa del Humor graphic humor contest decided to award Sebastià Martí Benedí the first Curuxa prize (category for over 25s) and Hugo Feal PERMUY the first prize Curuxa Nova (16 to 25 years old category). Likewise, Robert John Holt SCHMELZER and Luciano Ripio MOLINA won the second prize in the Curuxa and Curuxa Nova categories, respectively.

1. Hugo Feal PERMUY

The jury was made up, in addition to the mayor of Fene, Juventino Trigo, by the Councilor for Culture, Justo Martínez Ardá, by the person in charge of the Museum of Humor, Almudena Marcos, and by the cartoonists Luís Davila, Sandra Lodi and Javier Jareño López-Cuervo (the latter, two of the winners of the contest in 2019).

2. Robert John Holt SCHMELZER

The 2nd Curuxa Prize was in this edition for Robert John Holt SCHMELZER for a drawing presented “Untitled”. The jury valued "the graphic quality, the clean finish and its idea, apparently simple, but which has multiple readings and which includes problems that we face today".

In relation to the winners of the Curuxa Nova Prize, the jury highlighted the work of Hugo Feal PERMUY, who won the 1st Curuxa Nova prize for a drawing entitled "Breathe", "the graphic quality and the finish of the drawing in which a careful work on the composition and narration of the scene”. He also highlighted the "ability to convey a critical message about current affairs and the message that is impeccable."

2. Luciano Ripio MOLINA

The mayor and president of the jury, Juventino Trigo, advanced this morning that next November the Museum of Humor will host an exhibition with a selection of the works that participated in this call (67 in total, of which 53 participated in the Curuxa category and the remaining 14 in the Curuxa Nova category). The exhibition will open on November 6, coinciding with the awards ceremony.

In addition, on the Museum's website (http://museodohumor.fene.gal) a virtual gallery with all the works submitted to the competition in this edition will be enabled as of that day.
